growing old vs. getting old

I think I'm getting old.

grow = Become larger, greater, or bigger; expand or gain; Pass into a condition gradually, take on a specific property or attribute; become; Increase in size by natural process

get = Come into the possession of something concrete or abstract; Enter or assume a certain state or condition; Cause to move; cause to be in a certain position or condition

Which would you rather be?

When you grow old, you literally, and figuratively grow. Your body expands, extends, etc. You essentially gather all the nutrients all around you and absorb it, and incorporate it in your self.

To get old, one must simple pass time. To get by from one event to another. To just pass through in a manner of speaking. It is taking for granted the small things in life.
